In May 2007, Amend.org executive director Jeffrey Witte
was invited to speak about Amend.org's work at a Make
Roads Safe conference in Cape Town, South Africa.
The conference opened with a speech from
Nobel Prize-winner and liberation hero, Archbishop Desmond
Tutu. Archbishop Tutu's speech was an inspiration -- he
was at once forceful and moving comparing the importance
of the global road-safety movement to the struggles against
Apartheid.
